Enjoy LBI on a Budget – from Sea Horse Motel

barnegat lighthouseThere comes a time in most everyone’s life when they must travel on a budget – under whatever the circumstances may be. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing necessarily, and with a little creativity and ingenuity, you and whomever is serving as your traveling companions can still absolutely have one heck of a good time.

In your pursuit of free or near-free fun, our Sea Horse Motel team has decided to help your cause and put together a little itinerary of how you can enjoy the fabulous place we call home – Long Beach Island, New Jersey – on a shoestring budget. ALL 18 miles of LBI!

First things first, call our front office and book a stay with us for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Our accommodations have been completely renovated and continue to remain among the most reasonable on LBI! See our 2015 Room Rates here.

Arrive Tuesday, check in and unpack your bags. We recommend relaxing by our newly-refurbished pool deck before grabbing one of the free LBI Shuttles and heading down to the famous Barnegat Lighthouse State Park and tour all of sights this landmark has to offer. If you’re feeling really motivated, you can make the 217 step climb to the top.

Wednesday is all about hanging out in Beach Haven for “Wednesday FUNday”! This South End municipality is not only offering free beach access (that’s right, NO BADGES REQUIRED) on Wednesdays, but also discounts and coupons to some of the town’s favorite eateries. Check out all of the details here.

Thursday, we recommend waking up and heading over to Surf Buggy Bikes – just a few blocks north of us here in Brant Beach, see Charlie, and rent some bikes for the day. From here, you’ll take a leisurely pedal south on the bike lanes of Ocean Avenue, and head toward the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Holgate. Along the way, be sure to head bayside at Dock Road in Beach Haven and visit the NJ Maritime Museum for the most extensive collection of maritime artifacts in the entire state!

See, you CAN enjoy a few days away here on our beloved island on a budget. And for a list of great restaurants you can have a fantastic meal at without breaking the bank, just click here.

We hope to see you all soon! The sea has been spectacular and life is always good here on LBI!
